Getting ready for Christmas

These are just some pictures of life around here post-Thanksgiving as we got ready for Christmas (and Jill's wedding, which was on December 19th).

At the beginning of December, I fell at the bottom of the stairs early one morning and hurt my foot.  We took me to an urgent care that day to get my foot x-rayed, and fortunately it wasn't broken.  They said I hyper-extended the tendons in my foot.  I couldn't walk on my foot for several days and got around by either hopping or using crutches.

Ian got a haircut and suddenly looked like such a grown-up little boy!

At Ann's preschool, the kids get a sticker at the end of the day if they have followed the rules/behaved/etc.  After 4 stickers, they get to pick out a "treasure box" item.  This "Santa beard" was Ann's treasure box choice.  She was so excited about it.  She'd been telling us for a week that this was what she was going to pick.

My bruised and swollen foot.  I am only now, about a month and a half later, finally being able to walk normally on my foot with little pain.  This has definitely been a new experience for me, as I have never hurt myself so severely before that it's taken so long to heal.

Ian loves to get into the drawers in the workroom.  Many items in the lower drawers have been moved up high :)

I helped Ann make a countdown chain for Christmas to hang in her bedroom

Ian checking out the Christmas tree that was put up downstairs

Daisy was getting into the Christmas spirit!

Ann really enjoyed getting to help decorate the Christmas tree

Ian "helped" too :)

After the tree was all decorated.  She also had a blast wearing that Santa hat

Ann helped me make some cookies to take to our ward Christmas party

I helped Ann write out her letter to Santa.  This is the first year she's done this.  It was super cute.

Santa came to the Christmas party at church.  Ann was excited to go see him up until we were next in line - then she said she didn't want to anymore.  I convinced her stay in line anyway and she did great.  She got on his lap and told him wanted she wanted for Christmas this year.

Ian was not so excited to see Santa :)

Munching on rolls waiting for dinner to start.

I'm so sorry about your foot! That sounds really hard to take care of kids and be hobbling around the house on crutches. I hope it keeps getting better!
