Sneaky

Ann can be a pretty sneaky little girl, and I wanted to quickly record two things she did today:

1. So part of having a baby (that grows into a walking toddler) includes baby-proofing.  We've had to continually adjust what we've done as she's grown.  The latest thing we've had to adjust is how we've taken care of our outlets, plugs, cords, etc.  The biggest thing we've had to worry about is the cords (and especially the outlet) where our desktop computer is plugged in.  All of the cords for the computer, monitor, printer, etc are plugged into a power-strip (which so far she leaves alone).  It's the power-strip plug that's been the problem.  She LOVES to come over and try to pull it out.  It's pretty much become a game to her: she pulls on the plug, we tell her no, move her away, then she runs back and pulls on the plug again (luckily she's never pulled it all the way out).  ANYWAYS, now with that long back story: this evening after Tom came home from school, he was sitting on the computer.  Ann comes over to him, and leads him over into the dining room (as far away from the computer as she could), and then try to run back to the power cord.  I was in the kitchen making dinner, so it was pretty funny watching Tom block Ann's attempt at getting past him to the computer.

(Today we finally went and bought a cover for the outlet, so she can no longer attempt to pull the plug out of the wall.  She will surely be disappointed tomorrow when she realizes this)

2.  Along with buying a cover for our power cord's outlet, I bought some new covers for our other outlets as well.  I had just bought the typical little plastic things that you stick into the socket, but Ann has since learned how to pull those out.  So I bought some of these.  As I opened one of the packages, I noticed a screw taped on the back of one of the plates , but not the other.  Tom and I quickly looked around the floor to find the missing screw, since we obviously didn't want Ann to find it and try to eat it.  We couldn't see anywhere, and maybe thought the screw fell off before it was even packaged.  Oh well, we'd just use the screw from the current outlet plate.  A few minutes later, Tom picked up Ann to give her a hug.  As he set her down, I said to her "you look like you are chewing on something."  So I laid her down to check in her mouth.  I opened her mouth and then exclaimed "oh my gosh!  It's the screw!!".  So while Tom and I were looking around on the floor for the missing screw, Ann had already found it and stuck it in her mouth without us evening noticing.

Tom has mentioned before that, as Polley, Ann is a clever, determined stinker.  She continues to prove this to be true.  But we love her all the same :)

P.S. Funny story: I had to ask Tom again what the three words he used to describe Ann, since I couldn't remember them all.  After telling me he asks, "are you writing a blog post?"  Apparently I wouldn't have asked for any other reason.
