Easter and a Birthday

Happy Easter! I hope everyone had a good weekend. I'm trying to be more festive with the holidays as Ann gets older, so we definitely did more for Easter this year. I also got to try and explain a little bit to Ann about what Easter is all about. Yesterday we watched the "Because of Him" video the LDS Church put out, and I explained to Ann what was going on. Although I'm sure she doesn't totally get it, I think she at least understood some of what I told her :-) And it was definitely a sweet experience for me to be able to articulate to her about the Savior's resurrection and the blessings it brings into our lives (which I think that video beautifully portrays).

Friday night we dyed eggs. Nothing too fancy, but we still had fun. Ann was pretty excited to see the eggs change color.

I still did most of the "heavy lifting" with the eggs

But Ann helped me put the eggs into the cups and choose which color to use.

Got to love the facial expressions from toddlers when you tell them to smile

So excited about all the colored eggs!

Tom's birthday was this weekend, so we had fun celebrating that as well. He requested brownies instead of a cake.

Ann helped him blow out the candles.

On Sunday we had a little Easter egg hunt for Ann after she woke up from her nap. I decided to hide the eggs we'd dyed, as that what my family did growing up.

However it was kind of warm yesterday so the condensation from the cold eggs caused the dye to get on Ann's hands. She wasn't too sure about that. It took a bit of coaxing to get her to keep finding the eggs, and we had to wipe her hands off with a tissue after each egg.

Collecting the eggs. There were 15 total.

Finding the "hidden" eggs!

The last egg to be found was in one of Ann's shoes. This is her exclaiming "the egg's in my shoe!" She then said, "that's kinda funny" in a "that's really weird, mom" kind of tone.

After finding all of the eggs and getting her hands washed, we checked out our little Easter baskets that we set out on the table. Nothing much, but Ann has enjoyed having some extra chocolate around the house for her to eat!
