Transportation Fair

Apparently every year for the past 20 or so years, there has been a free transportation fair held here.  I only heard about it last year (someone mentioned it about a week or so after it had happened).  It sounded like a lot of fun, so I made sure to get it on the calendar for this year.  Basically, there are a ton of trucks/construction vehicles/etc at a park in town, and kids are allowed to climb up in them and play around.  Ann had a lot of fun.  Tom had school stuff to work on, so my mom came with me and the two kids.

Ian hung out in his stroller for a while.  It was a bright day.

There were a few old model cars there as well, such as this 1930 Ford Model A.

Old tractor.  Ann was trying to push the brake pedal.  There were lines to hop onto each of the cars/trucks, so each child only got a minute or two to sit in the seat.  When we tried to get Ann down from here, she very honestly said that no, she wasn't ready to get off (after the first car or two, Ann was more okay with having to get down).  A man next me asked me how old Ann was, and was very surprised when I said she'd just turned 4 (I think his response was "oh wow" or something like that).  Yes, my child is tall.

The basket of a hot air balloon.  The two men standing here would also pull the lever to turn on the fire that would normally go into the balloon.  It freaked Ann out when they did that (understandably so), and I got them impression that they thought it was funny to freak the kids out like that (and that's how they amused themselves during their time at the fair).

Trying to honk the horn of this big truck

Waiting for her turn to hop in the front seat of this oil tanker.  Ann was watching herself dance in the reflection of the truck.

She had a great time getting into all of these trucks

Looking at her reflection in the big rear view mirror of the fire truck

At the controls of the bulldozer

Ann and Ian sitting in the dozer part of the bulldozer

The digger claw was sitting on the back of a big flatbed truck.  Ann was too interested in the flatbed to really look at me for a picture

At the digger controls (Ann really likes diggers and will always point them out when we pass by any)

Cute little baby in the digger claw.  I count these at Ian's 10 month pictures, as I didn't get a chance to take any at home.

And I think this about sums up how Ian feels about grass

One last old fashioned tractor before it was time to leave.

Ian back in the stroller, sucking on his froggy leg.  We had a great time and will have to go back again next year!

What a fun activity! My kids would love something like that. Ann does look really tall!
