Tom had a Birthday! Shout Hurray!

Last month we celebrated Tom's birthday.  It was a pretty low-key day (per his request).  I made his requested birthday dinner, and then he blew out candles on his birthday brownies (since he doesn't like cake).

Tom didn't like the idea of 31 separate candles on his brownies, so he (in true nerd fashion) came up with the idea to make 31 using 8-bit binary.  Binary is just made up of 0s and 1s.  So, 31 is 00011111 - hence why the first three candles are not lit - they represent the 0s.
