I can hardly believe that Ann turned 6 years old last month! Seriously, where has the time gone? I look at pictures of when she was Ian's age and think "was she ever really that little??". She is one tall girl, that is for sure! She frequently gets mistaken for being 7 or even 8 years old. She asked me to measure her height today and she's just shy of 50 inches. She loves reading (a skill that just boomed this past school year), drawing, playing video games (she is all about all of the Mario games), dancing (she recently informed us that she is the best dancer in our family), singing, playing with her brother and swimming (among other things).
I had to work on her birthday, so she helped me decorate her cake after I got home. We got to video chat with my parents. Ann's requested dinner was McDonald's (mostly so she could play at the play area). After dinner we had cake and presents. She said it was a good birthday, so I take that as a success! We did have a "party" for her the Saturday before her birthday - it just involved inviting a few friends to play at the park and eat cupcakes.
On my way home from work I needed to stop by the grocery store to pick up a few things. I saw these pretty "butterfly" bouquets of flowers and knew that Ann would just love them (I was right). We took a few pictures outside before working on her cake.
Opening her presents after dinner. We had gotten Ann and Ian a set of magformer tiles at Christmas and they have both loved playing with them. So we got Ann some more :)
A Rapunzel lego set. It's one that she has pointed out to us for quite a while. She went to bed excitedly looking at the instruction manual. She had the whole thing completed by the time I was home from work the next day.
Grandma Polley got her some new clothes
She also got Ann a sprinkler. The funny thing is that is totally a gardening sprinkler, but she said it was just as good (if not better) than the kid sprinklers. Ann loved it and she and Ian have enjoyed using it outside as the temperatures have started to soar out here.
Grandma also got Ann a new set of gardening gloves (Ann likes to help Grandma out in the yard)
Then Grandpa Polley pulled out Ann's last present
It is a huge frisbee/flying disc.
We just have to be careful when throwing it around outside so it doesn't accidentally go over the wall into one of our neighbor's yards.
Ann's 6 birthday cake! She picked out the yellow frosting and the swirly candles
She requested the lights be out when she blew out the candles :)
Happy birthday to our sweet, spunky girl! We love you so much Ann!
