Barrett Reunion 2012 - Part 1

As I mentioned previously, my family had our first ever family reunion during the middle of July.  It had been three years since we had all been together as a family, so it was so much fun to get to see everyone all at the same time.  We stayed at a resort called Cedar Valley, near Lansboro, MN (about an hour outside of Rochester).  My parents rented the biggest cabin they had and we all stayed in it.

These are just part of the pictures that we took (we have some saved on our laptop that we haven't gotten transferred over to our big computer for editing yet).  I'll post those later when I get a chance.  Most of these pictures are from the second half of the week we were there.

Just down the road from where we were staying was the Aroma Pie Shop, which apparently sells "world famous pies."  I think the pie they are specifically referring to is their bluebarb pie (blueberry and rhubarb).  The pies were quite yummy.

On our way back from picking up some more pies (we'd gotten two others the day before).

The main office of the resort had all sorts of things you could rent.  A handful of us rented some bikes for a ride.  This is my sister-in-law, Melanie, which their son in the trailer.

My brother Nick with one of their daughters (I think these tandem bikes look pretty cool)

Me with Nick and Melanie's other daughter :)  (obviously I didn't go out on the bike ride)

We had our own little playground in the yard behind the cabin.  It was pretty hot and muggy most of the days (when it wasn't raining), but I did still take Ann out and stuck her in the swing a couple of times :)

Ann playing with her cousin that is just two months older than her (it was really cute to watch them together)

Campfire!  And a view of the cabin in the background.

My sister Rebekah, holding our niece...just getting ready for what's to come soon in her future (just a few more weeks until her little guy makes his arrival!!)

Tom and Janelle playing ladderball.  It was a fun game, and I actually was pretty good at it too

Janelle, Mom and Ann just chillin' on the porch (this was the day we'd had family pictures taken, hence the coordinating outfits)

My beautiful little family :)  I actually stole this picture from my brother, who took it while we were waiting to get everything set up for taking our family pictures.  I'm so lucky to have these two in my life.

Tom helping Melanie make some delicious homemade lemonade for dinner one night

The cutest little girl you ever did see!

"Yeah, I guess I'll claim him as my dad" :)  She really does love her daddy, even if he can be a little goofy sometimes (that's what dads are for, right?)

Being shy around Aunt Rebekah

Milk = yum

Everyone dishing up dinner (we each took a day to cook dinner for everyone.  This happened to be Nick and Melanie's night to cook - they made a delicious Cafe Rio-style pork)

On our last full day at the cabin, I went with all of the girls (plus Rebekah's husband Grant :) on CD Amish tour (you just rent a CD and it directs you where to go, so you can stop at some smaller Amish farms that can't handle the crowds of big tours, it was actually really neat).  When I got back, my Dad told me that I had to come in and see Ann because she had fallen asleep.  I walked into the main room and this is what I saw.  Tom had tried to put her down in her pack-n-play, but was unsuccessful.  My nieces/nephews were watching a movie and Ann just rested her head on the couch (and at some point put her leg up).  After a while Tom realized she hadn't moved and noticed she'd fallen asleep.

It makes me laugh every time I see these pictures, and I still can't believe she fell asleep like this (she's never been one to fall asleep just anywhere).  When my Mom saw Ann, she exclaimed "oh my goodness, she is her mother's daughter!"  Growing up, apparently it was really common for my Mom to come check in on me at night and find me hanging half off my bed, still asleep (I actually remember waking up like that once or twice too).

I'll post more pictures when I get around to editing them.
