Yes, it's still cold here

We've continued to be mostly home-bodies around here due to the fact that it's been just so darn cold lately.  Our local school district canceled school twice this week (Monday and Tuesday) due to the extremely cold temperatures again.  That brings the total to 4 school cancellations this year, all for dangerously cold weather.  My mom has told me that in our family's 30 years of living here that she has never seen that happen before.  It's been pretty crazy, that's for sure.

This is how we stay warm on those cold winter days!

More puzzles

Ann decided she's had enough of this cold weather.  She found her swimsuit earlier this week and asked to wear it.  She then also asked if we could go to Grandma and Grandpa Polley's house to go swimming.

Today we went over to my parents' house to play "in" the snow a little bit (it had warmed up to 20 degrees!  Have to take advantage of the nice weather :)  My parents have two of these little kid-sized snow shovels and Ann has loved playing it them.  This is her version of helping "shovel" snow:  Take snow from a pile...

...and dump it onto the sidewalk/driveway.  She had a great time.

This is about as far into the snow as she was willing to go.  Granted, it is kind of deep right now so I don't really blame her for not wanting to dive right on it.

Ann found my old snow leopard stuffed-animal and had fun playing with it.

Covering her ears while Grandpa vacuumed

Since we were at my parents' house, I decided to look and see how old I was (and what I looked like) when I got that snow leopard.  It was for Christmas just a couple weeks before I turned 6.

And since I was pulling out old photo albums, I decided to find a picture of me when I was Ann's age (this was when I was about a month younger than she is now).  I think it's safe to say that we're related :)

Hopefully the weather will warm up a little more soon so we can have more fun outside!
