I decided that we'd first go and visit the places with historical significance. So off to the Plummer House we went (a place I have been to before). Here a few facts about the Plummer House:
-It was owned by Dr. Henry S. Plummer, who became a part of the Mayo Clinic in 1901
-The house is an English Tudor Mansion, build between 1917 and 1924 (all furniture in the house is original)
-Dr. Plummer died in 1936, but his wife Daisy lived in the house until 1969.
And here's a fun fact about Dr. Plummer that Tom told me about: you know those colored tabs outside of exam rooms at a doctor's office? Dr. Plummer invented those.
This is the front of the house. The house is usually closed to the public (but is open for reservations for use for things like wedding receptions). However, the house is open for self-guided tours on Wednesdays from Noon-6pm during the months of June, July and August...unfortunately we came on a Tuesday. :)
Here is the back of the house. It is absolutely beautiful to walk around.
Ann had fun exploring the area
Ann by a door that looks like it goes into a sun/sitting room
Another view of the backside of the house
There are some pretty gardens around the house. This is a lower garden area down the hill from the house. There are two fountains like this there.
Ann of course wanted to pull out the grass
Us with the fountain in the background (that you can't see very well). And I'm not sure how well it comes through in the picture, but Ann is totally tanner than me (especially her legs!!). I have very pale skin and the only other color it turns is red. Tom and I both have darker skin run in our families (especially in Tom's family), and Ann ended up with it.
Looking back at the fountain
Freedom!! I think she like going somewhere where she wasn't getting pushed around in her stroller the majority of the time
We spotted a baby bunny in the grass
Such a fun girl
The sun came out from behind the clouds, which made it a lot brighter and hotter.
Our next big adventure will be next week when we head out with my family for our family reunion! My brother and his family will be the first to arrive out here and they get here tomorrow! We are so excited to get to see everyone.
