She Climbs

Our sweet little girl has recently acquired a new skill:  climbing.  We knew it would happen eventually, but definitely were not encouraging it.

I have gotten into the habit of setting the diaper bag on the top of the couch to keep it away from Ann.  So the first thing she does after climbing up is to get to the diaper bag and look for my cell phone (and after not finding it, moves on to grabbing papers and whatever else she can find).

She settled on my water battle this time

(Funny moment:  as I was uploaded these pictures onto the computer and quickly edited them, I heard some frustrated noises coming from Ann.  I looked over to see her climbing back up onto the couch, heading straight for the diaper bag to look for my phone)

The couch is right next to the light switch for the living room, and Ann loves to play with it.  And also right above the light switch is a key hook for Tom's and my key rings...and she loves to try and reach for our keys (though she can't get to them quite yet).  Unfortunately, both of these activities require leaning against or balancing on the arm rest of the couch.  So now I can't just leave Ann alone in the living room to play for a few quick minutes to do something (like the dishes) for fear that she will climb onto the couch and then fall off and hurt herself from attempting to get our keys or play with the light.

Life just got to be a lot more interesting.
