Christmas 2018

We had a quiet Christmas at home this year.  It was actually the first time we've had Christmas just as our little family - we've always gone to be with either my or Tom's parents.  However, with me being 37 weeks pregnant, we definitely weren't going any where.  We enjoyed getting to do things on our own and having a quiet, non-chaotic holiday.  I made pork burritos for dinner on Christmas Eve, and we also had some shrimp cocktail since seafood is a tradition in Tom's family (and Ann has really come to like shrimp).  We read the nativity story out of the Bible and watched a little video.  I got Christmas pajamas for Ann and Ian to open on Christmas Eve.  We set out some treats for Santa and then got the kids off to bed.  Ann and Ian did a great job sleeping in and then staying in their room until Tom and I came to get them.  We opened presents and had breakfast.  The rest of the day consisted of video-chatting with grandparents, playing with new presents and relaxing.

We buy these fig bars from Costco and Ian requested some from Santa.  He was very excited to see that there were some in his stocking (when he saw two were in there, his response was "two? I only asked for one!!")

One of Ann's Santa gifts were these "mystery mosiac" coloring sheets.  It comes with books with coloring pages that are filled with little numbered boxes.  The accompanying set of colored pencils are numbered and then you fill them in according to their number to reveal a picture

Our little Christmas tree with all of the presents underneath

Santa got Ian a cash register toy

Opening up a gift from Grandma and Grandpa Polley (he and Ann both got a container of "snowballs")

Ann's school has a little holiday shop where the students can buy little gifts for family members.  Ann bought Ian a ring that says "BRO" on it

Ian was pretty happy about it

We bought Ann and Ian a couple Calvin and Hobbes books as well as two Where's Waldo books

We also got a few new games
